Tomasz Kucner is an Assistant Professor at Aalto University in Finland, where he leads Mobile Robotics Group. He is specializing in autonomous mobile robotics. His research focuses on enabling intelligent systems to operate safely and efficiently in dynamic, human-populated environments. With a strong background in perception, modeling, and human-aware robotics, he explores topics such as maps of dynamics, human motion prediction, and machine learning for robotic systems. He has contributed to several EU-funded projects and collaborates actively with leading institutions across Europe.
In his teaching, he emphasizes real-world relevance and interdisciplinary thinking, aiming to inspire the next generation of engineers and researchers. He currently teaches courses on autonomous robotics, integrating practical assignments with insights into contemporary developments in the field. As a Unite! Visiting Professor at TU Darmstadt, he seeks to foster long-term collaborations in research and education, building bridges between institutions and advancing innovation in robotics and AI.
